Chapter One: Crossing the Threshold

There comes a moment in every life when you find yourself standing at the edge of the familiar, looking toward a path you have never walked before.

This website is that threshold for me.

It is more than a collection of artwork, readings, journals, and creative offerings. It is a declaration, a quiet promise to myself that I will no longer allow fear, self-doubt, or the opinions of others to determine how brightly I am willing to shine.

For years, I carried dreams that patiently waited beneath the surface. Some were tucked away because life became busy. Others because somewhere along the way I began believing the stories so many of us are told, that we are too different, too sensitive, too imaginative, too much, or somehow not enough.

But the soul has a remarkable way of calling us home.

Again and again, it whispers for us to remember who we truly are.

So here I am.

Choosing courage over comfort.

Choosing authenticity over perfection.

Choosing to create before I feel completely ready.

Welcome to Jen Dragonfly Studio.

This space is an offering of my heart, my creativity, my intuition, and my lifelong love of nature, mythology, symbolism, and the unseen threads that weave through every one of our lives.

As a mixed media artist—and an author in progress—I don't simply paint images.

I paint stories.

I paint healing.

I paint symbols that continue whispering long after the paint has dried.

Each brushstroke is an invitation to slow down, to listen inward, and to reconnect with the wisdom that has always lived within.

My hope is that somewhere within these pages, paintings, and future books, you discover a piece of yourself waiting to be remembered.

The Guardians at the Gate

One thing I've learned is that resistance has an uncanny way of appearing the moment we begin stepping toward the life we truly want.

As I write this, I'm in the middle of opening my Etsy shop with my first collection of digital creations. It sounds simple enough—until it isn't.

For two days I searched for something as ordinary as where to upload my digital files. I updated browsers, tried different computers, followed every suggestion I could find, and eventually reached the point where all I could do was laugh, send a message to Etsy Support...and wait.

Years ago, I probably would have taken that as a sign to stop.

Today, I see it differently.

Every meaningful journey has guardians at the gate.

Sometimes they're technical glitches.

Sometimes they're unexpected delays.

Sometimes they're fear.

Sometimes they're the quiet voice that asks,

"Who do you think you are?"

The last several months have asked much of me.

I've walked through depression.

I've recovered from a compression fracture in my spine.

I've questioned myself more times than I can count.

And yet, those experiences have also become some of my greatest teachers.

They've reminded me that the strongest resistance often appears just before we step into a new chapter of our lives.

I've heard it said that in basketball, the greatest defense isn't waiting on the opposite side of the court—it's gathered around the basket, just before the shot.

Life often feels the same.

When we begin choosing ourselves...

When we start creating the life we've dreamed about...

When we finally decide to speak our truth, heal old wounds, or step into our authentic selves...

Resistance has a way of showing up.

Not because we're walking the wrong path.

But because we're finally walking the right one.

So if you're standing at the edge of something new—a dream, a healing journey, a creative calling, or simply becoming more yourself—I hope you'll remember this:

Don't mistake resistance for failure.

Sometimes it's simply the final doorway before the next chapter begins.

Keep going.

The path may not always be visible, but every courageous step reveals the next stone beneath your feet.

This Is Only the Beginning

This website is more than a destination.

It's the beginning of an unfolding story.

There are paintings waiting to emerge.

Books waiting to be written.

Collections waiting to be created.

And countless stories waiting to be shared.
